A young father of two has been gored to death by a raging bull at a festival known as “the street of hell” in Spain.
Santiago Barrero San Roman, 30, a fighting bull breeder, was taking part in the San Marcos festivities in Beas de Segura, southern Spain, on Friday when the animal turned on him, according to reports.
The annual event takes place on Calle Palomares and won its nickname for its ferocity.
Footage showed Roman being dragged along the street in front of dozens of terrified festivalgoers as he scrambled to back away from the raging bull.
Several men ran onto the street in an attempt to distract the beast, while others pulled on a rope attached to the bull to pull it away.
But the animal continued its attack, shoving the rancher into a wooden fence using its horns and dragging his body along the ground.
Roman was pierced through the torso by one of its horns and was pronounced dead within the hour, leaving a wife and two young children.
Festival organizers expressed their “deep sorrow” and held a minute’s silence before the event resumed.
