Mozambique government has expelled two instructors found guilty of impregnating students at a police training school, Justice Minister Helena Kida has said.
The expulsion follows a disciplinary inquiry into allegations of sexual abuse of women trainees at the Matalana police practical school, on the outskirts of Maputo.
It is unclear how many students the men impregnated but reports had it that 15 police trainees had been impregnated after they were “harassed” into having relationships with instructors.
Though the 15 victim’s training has been cut short, Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi said they would all be allowed to take the training course again at a future date.
Former First Lady of Mozambique, Graca Machel, has called for a thorough review of the legislation against sexual harassment and abuse, in light of the scandal.
