A plastic surgeon known for working on celebrities has died from COVID-19 in Beverly Hills having been allegedly infected while performing a cosmetic procedure on a patient who turned out to be COVID positive.
According to family sources, Dr. Payman Simoni kept working on patients during a pandemic and passed away while hospitalized in L.A. after he contracted the virus.
The 50-year-old was reportedly doing a lip injection on a woman who was temperature checked and filled out a Covid-19 questionnaire but was not tested for Covid.
While the doc was hovering over the maskless woman, sources said she coughed in Dr. Simoni’s face (he had his mask on), the patient contacted the office a few days later to inform them she had tested positive for COVID.
Dr. Simoni then went into quarantine and began experiencing symptoms, he was later admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and placed on a ventilator as he struggled to breath and then placed in a medically induced coma as his lungs started failing. He died Friday from a brain haemorrhage.
Dr. Payman Simoni appeared on CBS network talk show ‘The Doctors’.
The City of Beverly Hills did not prohibit cosmetic surgery offices from opening while cases continue to surge.
