WhatsApp has introduced “Search the web”, a new feature that allows users to fact-check content contained in forwarded messages.

Users will notice a magnifying glass appear alongside messages that have been forwarded to five people or more, users can then click the icon and be redirected to the web to search for news results that shed more light on the topic discussed in the messages.

Users can also upload the message directly into their web browser to easily search for other sources of information.

The feature has been rolled out to users in the US, the UK, Brazil, and other locations,
