UK: MP Sacked Over Porn Allegations To Oversee Online Safety Bill

The news of the appointment of former conservative minister, who was sacked over allegations he had pornography on his work computers as Chair of the Digital, Culture, Media and Sports (DCMS) was ‘well received’ by Twitter world.

Damian Green was deputy prime minister under Theresa May, and replaces Julian Knight who has recused himself from Parliament while the police investigate allegations of serious sexual assault.

Green, who was sacked as a minister in 2017 following allegations about pornography on his parliamentary computers, said “online safety” would be one of the key issues the committee would be considering.

Here are some of the comments from Twitterati to the news:

Sylvia Booth @BoothSmf: This is a damning indictment of Sunak.

Anne Lomax@Anne10max: Every time you think they’ve sunk as low as possible, they dig a bit deeper.

Alan Somerset@Alan_Somerset: I expect they had difficulty finding a Tory that didn’t have any allegations against them, corrupt to the core.

Wolfie@elfandsafety78: So it’s former Poacher that becomes the Game Keeper. In a normal would I be surprised. However, with the current chaos and calamity, I’m anything but surprised.

Jeswings@SusanUs42932351: Sunak pledged to bring “integrity and accountability” as prime minister. Was that the usual Tory gas lighting?

Razwan Nazir@RazNazir: Outrageous!! What next bring Rolf Harris to the party??

Neil@NeilHartland: It’s britian. Everything feels like fake news, but it’s not its true

@brian_tea: There are no depths to which @RishiSunak and his @Conservatives

 will not sink.

Neil Godwin@NeilGodwin10: What’s really sad is that I’m not in the least bit surprised

Lawrence Paulson@LawrPaulson: Well, you can’t deny that he has hands-on experience

OrlaD@orladona: When shame goes all goes! They are laughing at us 😠
