AFRICA Cup of Nations teams are in the money. The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) President Dr Patrice Motsepe has announced the winner of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025 will receive USD 10 million (£7.5 m) for their efforts.
The announcement was made following a meeting of the CAF Executive Committee (EXCO) in Rabat, Morocco, a day before the kick-off of the tournament. The prize money for the winner represents a 43% increase from the 2023 edition, when hosts Cote d’Ivoire pocketed USD 7 million.
The winners of the TotalEnergies CAF AFCON Cameroon 2021 received USD 5 million and with the figure having doubled to USD 10 million in 2025, it marks an astonishing 100% increase over a four-year period.

The runners-up at the TotalEnergies CAF AFCON Morocco 2025 will receive USD 4 million, while the two semi-finalists each receive USD 2.5 million.
This year’s AFCON, which kicked off on December 21, will see 24 teams tackling the big stage in Morocco. The final will be played on January 18, 2026.
Hosts and favourites Morocco, the 2022 FIFA World Cup surprise package, have big rivals to take the glory with Algeria, Egypt and Senegal the other in-form and elite teams. The tournament is also an opportunity for emerging players to showcase their skills to the numerous scouts.
