Pope Francis has said that gender ideology is “one of the most dangerous ideological colonization” today.
“Gender ideology, today, is one of the most dangerous ideological colonizations,” Francis said in the interview with an Argentine publication.
“It blurs differences and the value of men and women,” he added.
“All humanity is the tension of differences. It is to grow through the tension of differences. The question of gender is diluting the differences and making the world the same, all dull, all alike, and that is contrary to the human vocation.”
Known for his outspoken institutional reforms, Pope Francis drew the line at expressing support for a certain aspect of the LGBTQ+ community.
The term “gender ideology” has no academic or theoretical basis, according to researchers Mariana Prandini Assis and Ana Carolina Ogando, but is frequently invoked as a bogeyman by religious and conservative leaders regardless.
