ZAMBIA: Nation Cancels Koffi Olomide’s Gig As France Call For His Arrest

Controversial Congolese musician, Koffi Olomide has been barred from entering Zambia. The 62 year old whose real name is Antoine Christophe Agbepa Mumba was denied access into the country over criminal charges he faces in the country and in France.

The flamboyant rhumba musician who was scheduled to perform at two shows in Zambia had earlier described the country as his “second home” and that he would like to perform in the country before “I die.”

A day before he was due to arrive Zambia, the French embassy in Zambia called for his arrest with the envoy threatening to involve Interpol to ensure Koffi’s arrest over an outstanding charges of kidnapping, sexually assaulting his dancers and employing them despite not having valid work permit in France.

At the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in 2016, Olomide was caught on camera kicking a female dancer who reportedly had a disagreement with his wife Cindy. He was promptly deported from the country following public outcry.
