PASS OUT: Dental Assistant Who Stole From Sedated Patients Arrested

By Published February 13, 2019

A New York dental assistant who specialises in stealing jewelleries from patients after sedating them has been arrested and charged for grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen items.

Arieta Gouvakis, 38, was arrested by the Suffolk County Police, New York.

According to police, Gouvakis robbed two patients of their valuables at Cosmetic Dentistry on Fairway Drive in Rocky Point. Neither patient realized their jewellery was missing until they left the Long Island Implant centre.

Gouvakis allegedly stole rings and bracelets from the unsuspecting patient’s bags. A doctor in the office said Gouvakis had only worked there for less than two weeks before they noticed some trouble and called in detectives.

“We are pleased that there was an arrest,” said Dr. Elliot Koschitzki. “She only worked for us for a very short period of time. As soon as we found out, we immediately contacted Suffolk County Police Department. They’ve been truly amazing.”

The stolen items were recovered from pawn shops in the area and police have since returned them to the owners.
