Police in Uganda have charged an American man with assault after video of him lashing out at hotel workers using racial slurs.

The union of European Football Association (UEFA) is set to honour Manchester United and England legend David Beckham with the 2018 UEFA President’s Award, for his ‘remarkable career and humanitarian efforts’.

Aretha Franklin’s fans will be able to catch one last glimpse of the Queen of soul who passed away after a battle with pancreatic cancer as the family is planning to hold an open casket memorial in her home town of Detroit.

The legendary singer's public memorial will be held at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History in Detroit.

The large venue was reportedly selected in anticipation of a huge turnout of mourners expected to attend the public memorial where the ‘Respect’ singer will be seen in an open casket.

Mourners have placed balloons and flowers in front of New Bethel Baptist Church in Detroit in honour of Aretha Franklin. Franklin’s father, Reverend C. L. Franklin, made new Bethel Baptist Church famous and it was where Aretha Franklin began her singing career in the church choir.

Memorials were also placed on her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the FOX Theatre and Music Hall in Detroit, plus the Apollo Theatre in Harlem, New York.

The family is yet to announce a date for her memorial service.

A Swedish court has ruled in favour of a Muslim woman and awarded her 40,000 Swedish krona (£3,420) in compensation after a company discriminated against her for refusing to shake hands during a job interview.
